LISTED WALL RESTORATION

Chilton House is a Grade II listed manor house, which has been sympathetically converted into a modern nursing home.

The brief was to restore a stone retaining wall in the grounds, which had decayed over time and become unsafe.

Being listed, preservation of the appearance was of critical importance and, as well as working closely with the architect, Saunders Brothers maintained a photo log to ensure that every stone was replaced exactly in its original position.

The result was a picturesque stone wall of authentic 18th century appearance, but stronger than the day it had originally been built.
