The Build
This project brought together multiple disciplines, combining sensitive restoration with structural improvements and a thoughtfully designed extension. The existing roof structure had deteriorated over many decades, so it was carefully dismantled, repaired and rebuilt with a new steel frame to ensure long-term stability while preserving the original character and reinstating the charming old tiles.

Alongside the essential conservation work, we constructed a larger kitchen, a new master bedroom with en suite, and a modern family bathroom. Foundations, drainage, brickwork, carpentry, roofing, plastering, joinery, electrics, plumbing, heating and external works all formed part of the programme.

The project also progressed through the challenges of the Covid pandemic, requiring robust planning, coordination and communication - something our clients particularly appreciated. Despite the complexities, the build ran smoothly, remaining compliant with listed building regulations throughout.
THE RESULT
The finished home now offers generous, modern accommodation while retaining the timeless character of the original listed building. The renewed roof, extended living spaces and upgraded facilities have transformed the property into a beautiful, practical and long-lasting family home.

Client Testimonial
“I was told many times that our build would be one of the most stressful times of my life. Saunders Bros proved everyone wrong. The team we had were not only incredibly proficient at their individual trades but also great to work with. They knew their stuff inside out yet were always open to hearing about new ways of doing things and about managing my budget effectively. Our site manager, Danny Knowler, was amazing. His breadth of knowledge, of all trades, was incredible and he managed the team with not only great efficiency but with respect too. Having a happy team was fundamental to the whole process. When I had meetings on site with architects and designers, they often commented on what a great team I had and how rare it was to have clients and builders work so well together. Our neighbours even commented on how professional they were and how relatively quiet - no loud radios! My build was a few months from being complete when the Covid pandemic hit. Danny managed this very well, liaising with trades, reviewing health and safety and at all times trying to do his best to get us back home as soon as possible. The team definitely went the extra mile for us. I would thoroughly recommend Saunders Bros and am presently racking my brains to find another project to get them back again.”
